Holiday Candy Wreath

This project is a peppermint candy wreath to hang for the holidays.  Not only is it a cute decoration, it is also edible! Anyone can unwrap a candy for a little treat!

Supplies:

  • Wire clothes hanger

  • About 2.5-3 lbs of wrapped peppermint starlight candies (or any wrapped candy with twist-tie ends you prefer)

  • Curling ribbon (red and/or green) and scissors.

  • Ribbon/Bow to add to the finished product and hide the hanger.

  • Optional: Small scissors and a ribbon to cut the candy off for your sweet treat.

Instructions:

  1. Re-shape the wire hanger into a circle.  Leave the curved “hanger” at the top so you can use it to hang your wreath. You can also use a smaller circle, for example an embroidery hoop.

  2. Cut the curling ribbon into 8-inch pieces.

  3. Tie a piece of curling ribbon to one end of each piece of candy. (single knot is ok)

  4. Once you have a batch of candies, tie them onto the hanger.  (double knot is best). Then use sharp scissors to curl the ribbon.

  5. Eventually you will have about ½ inch of space left and it will be difficult to add more candies. Tie the craft scissors with a long piece of ribbon to the top of the wreath and let it hang below the wreath.  This will be used to cut the candy off.

  6. Add a bow to cover the gap, hang and Enjoy!
